About Us

Steadfast Martial Arts is an inclusive training facility offering Jiu Jitsu and other combat sports programs for youth and adults. Steadfast instructors foster the tradition of rigorous and technical training to create well rounded fighters and even future instructors. Members of Steadfast will have a facility to train hard and feel safe while learning various martial arts (Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, and Muay Thai). Steadfast will provide members with the tools to get in shape, develop confidence, and if interested become a future Steadfast instructor or black belt.

Our Instructors

  • Caleb Khan

Caleb Khan is a black belt under Eduardo Fraga and Ralph Gracie. Originally a high school wrestler, Caleb began his jiu-jitsu career in 2007 at Ralph Gracie Berkeley. He is an instructor, competitor, and the head of the grappling program at Steadfast Martial Arts.

  • Jon Lawrence

Jon began his Muay Thai training at Cheetah Muay Thai in Oakland in 2010. After teaching PE in Richmond for two years as well, Jon took his training to Rawai Muay Thai in 2014, and was impressed by how tough the Thai kids at Rawai were, after training 5 hours and running 6 miles a day with them. He decided to start KickSmart, a program that combined Muay Thai training with meditation in public schools all over Richmond and Oakland. Simultaneously, he began coaching both youth and adults at PFMMA, a local gym in Albany associated with UFC veteran Tyson Griffin. As COVID hit, Jon brought his efforts to Guardian Gym in Oakland, eager to offer free kickboxing training to Oakland youth at a time when most gyms were closed. Jon will be coaching both youth and adult Muay Thai at Steadfast Martial Arts, and couldn't be more grateful and excited to join his lifelong friend Coach Caleb Khan at this point in his martial arts journey.

  • Anita Shammee

Anita began her martial arts journey at the age of 8 in Enshin Karate under Nima Mazhari in Falls Church, VA. She trained there for 15 years and won 5 world championships from 2012 to 2016. In 2016 she moved to California and began training jiu-jitsu at Ralph Gracie Berkeley. She is currently a brown belt under Eduardo Fraga and is an active competitor.
